Bio

Chris Young was born on June 12, 1985, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to Michael and Becky Harris. He has two siblings, Dorothy and Carter. He grew up in a musical family, as his grandfather Richard Yates was a performer on the Louisiana Hayride radio show. He started singing at an early age, and participated in various children’s theater productions. He also sang in his school choir and performed in local clubs. He attended Oakland High School, where he was a member of the Winter Drumline. He graduated in 2003 and went on to study music business at Belmont University in Nashville. He dropped out after two years to pursue his music career full-time.

He auditioned for the fourth season of Nashville Star, a reality TV show that searched for the next country music star. He impressed the judges and the viewers with his performances, and eventually won the competition in 2006. He signed a record deal with RCA Records Nashville, and released his self-titled debut album later that year. He has since released seven more albums, and has become one of the most successful and popular artists in the country music scene. He has won several awards, including a Grammy nomination, an ACM award, a CMA award, and a CMT award. He has also toured extensively, both as a headliner and as an opening act for other artists, such as George Strait, Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean, and Miranda Lambert.
